Description
Saint George, Victory-Bearer, born to Christian parents in Cappadocia Saint George joined the Roman army as a young man and became a talented soldier valiant in battle. He rose in the ranks of the military, but the pagan government was uneasy that a Christian held a position of power. In refusing to renounce his Christianity to make sacrifices to Roman Gods, he endured many unimaginable tortures, each worse than the last. With each torcher he was healed by the Lord and it strengthened his unyielding faith. The miracles of the Great Martyr George had increased the number of the Christians, they sought after him at the prison for healing. Finally, the Emperor pronounced the death sentence on Saint George and he calmly went beneath the sword, receiving the crown of martyrdom.
