Description
A humble shepherd and a simple man devoted to God at a young age, Spyridon became a priest in his village giving people in need his worldly possessions. Spyridon came from a very wealthy family. Saint Spyridon married and had a daughter. After his wife’s early and very sudden death, he enters the monastery and puts his daughter, Irene, into a covenant. Eventually, for his devotion to God and his selfless giving to people, he is named the Bishop of Trymythous. Saint Spyridon is commemorated on Dec 12 Eastern Orthodox Church and Dec 14 Roman Catholic Church.
