Description
Saint Tryphon is a 3rd century Christian Saint who was born in Kampsada in Phrygia which is now Turkey. Tryphon means “softness, delicacy”. He became famous for his ability to heal animals particularly on farms and he would not charge his clients currency. He is considered one of the Holy Unmercenaries. Around the world Saint Tryphon is the center of celebrations on fertility rite intended to encourage the growth of the vines, and it is also thought that human infertility can be cured on this day. He is the patron saint of winegrowers and gardeners. The Falcon on his shoulder is consistent with antient Russian Orthodox Tradition.
Saint Tryphon is commemorated on Feb 1st by Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches.
