Description
Saint Marina the Great Martyr or Margaret of Antioch was born in 258 A.D. during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius and was nurtured as a Christian by the woman who raised her after her mother’s death when she was 12 years old. The governor of the area, Olymvrios, dazzled by her beauty asked her to marriage. She refused to renounce her faith in Christ and suffered horrific tortures which did not bend her. She was beheaded by Olymvrios and received the Halo of Martyrdom by Christ. Saint Marina Feast day is July 20th for Roman Catholic Church and July 17th for Eastern Orthodox Church.
