Description
Religious Icon – Saint Joseph was the betrothed and not the spouse of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Child, following the invocation of the Angel. The descendant of David, he lived in Nazareth and was a carpenter when Virgin Mary was 13 years old. Saint Zacharias, chief priest of the temple and guardian of the Virgin Mary asked Joseph to protect Mary when she became an orphan. At the age of 15 Mary got pregnant, Joseph saw the Angel in his dream revealing to him of Mary’s divine role and her supernatural pregnancy. Saint Joseph is commemorated on March 19 – Solemnity of Saint Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and on May 1st in the Catholic faith. Also the Sunday after the Nativity of the Lord in Eastern Christianity faith.
