Description
Protector of the poor and weak, Saint Basil, a Father and Teacher of the Orthodox Church grew up in Caesarea of Cappadocia to noble and wealthy parents with Christian beliefs. Known as one of the three Great Hierarchs, the great theologian occupied himself with intense study of Holy Scripture. He spent years of dedication to teaching, pastoral service and the organization of monasteries. Saint Basil is celebrated January 2nd for Roman Catholic Church and January 1st in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
