This Virgin of Bethlehem Icon shows The Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ. This stunning depiction was first discovered in Bethlehem, hanging on the right side of the southern entrance of the holy cave of the nativity in Jerusalem. There is no evidence regarding the origin of this extraordinary icon that furnish the Basilica of The Nativity in Bethlehem, placed on a stand at the right side of the southern entrance of the Holy Cave of Nativity. Reportedly, it originated from Russia, a gift of the Russian Empress Catherine, who according to tradition, offered her Czar Clothes and jewelry in order to “dress up” the icon.
