Saint Nicholas

In 270 AD St Nicholas was born in Myra modern day Turkey. Nicholas being from a wealthy family he used his inheritance to help the poor in complete secrecy only wanting heaven as his reward. After giving away all his money he became a monk, then a parish priest reminding his flock to help the poor. In hearing at his church that a man who had lost everything was going to turn his 3 beautiful daughters into prostitutes, he threw stockings full of money into their window saving the girls from a horrible future. This is where the tradition of stockings at Christmas was started. He is the patron saint of Sailors and Children. His name Saint Nicholas became Santa Clause.
