Workshop
Iconotechniki was established over forty years ago in Greece as a traditional workshop for Orthodox Christian icons of the highest artistic, religious, spiritual value. The vision has always been to create icons that are works of religious art and spiritual instruments for prayer and devotion available around the world.
The workshop is devoted to faithful re-creation and religious accuracy, upholding the artistic tradition of byzantine iconography, creating icons that are not only aesthetically beautiful but also illustratively correct.
These icons are found in over 190 countries, in the homes, offices and at the most important centers of Orthodoxy like the Church of the Nativity, the Church of the Resurrection, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mount Athos, the Vatican, the Patriarchate in Russia, the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Patriarchate of Antioch, the Sinai, even in space in orbit aboard the International Space Station.
These icons have the blessing and certification of some of the most important Orthodox Monasteries, which have entrusted the workshop with the reproductions of their miraculous holy icons. Each of these icons have hand-crafted elements by skilled artisans making each a unique piece of art. Using canvas, wood and silver as raw materials these icons are crafted with 22k gold leafing, high quality crystals and hand-painted with egg tempera.
Iconotechniki is one of the few remaining traditional icon-making workshops in the world working to preserve Orthodox Christian Iconography. The Art of The Icon is the North American distributor of these revered icons and we are pleased to present a lifetime guarantee for your icon’s quality and craftsmanship.
Iconotechniki is known for its commitment to the traditional techniques used in the creation of icons. The workshop is home to master iconographers, who have dedicated their lives to the craft of iconography. They use traditional Byzantine techniques, such as egg tempera, gold leaf, and egg oil, to create beautiful and detailed works of art.
Iconotechniki’s workshop consists of a variety of skilled artisans and craftsmen who are dedicated to creating intricate works of art that are often inspired by Byzantine art and culture. The artisans use traditional methods to craft the pieces, such as intricate carvings, inlay work, and gilding. The pieces range from small icons to large-scale sculptures and other ornamental works. Iconotechniki is also known for its custom-made pieces, which often feature precious metals and stones.
